The 400kV, 3x26.667 MVAR Bus Reactor with GIS Bay has been charged and put into service 2024 at Panyor Lower HPS from 14:21Hrs of 16-04-2024. Commissioning of 400kV, 3 X 26.666 MVAR Bus Reactor with GIS Bay has reduced 8 kV to 9 kV in the Grid and improved the overall system functionality of Grid operation. Despite severe site constraints, the commissioning of the 400kV, 3 X 26.666 MVAR Bus Reactor with GIS Bay has been done in PLHPS, within a record time of 111 days, after handing over of Civil Foundations, which is also the first 400 kV outdoor GIS Bay commissioned by SEIMENS in the country. Further, approval for the Energization of 400kV GIS Bay has been received from the Chief Electrical Inspectorate, CEA, MoP within one and half days along with First Time Charging Clearance from NERLDC, Grid Controller of India Ltd. Due to severe voltage rise in the NER Grid during the lean Hydro period and as there was no Bus Reactor at Panyor LHPS (formerly Ranganadi HEP), NEEPCO, it was decided in the meeting of the North Eastern Region Standing Committee on Transmission (NERSCT) in Nov'2019, to install 400kV, 3 X 26.667 MVAR Bus Reactor with GIS Bay adjacent to the existing 400kV AIS, PLHPS to address the problem. The team for implementing the 400kV, 3X26.667 MVAR Bus Reactor with GIS Bay was led by Sri Tarh Naga, Sr. Manager (E/M), PLHPS, NEEPCO.
